I am finally getting into a zone. I can see and be around tempting foods and just say no. My family has had chocolate chip cookies two days in a row. I have looked at them and thought about eating one, two, three, etc. Then, I looked closely at them and thought to myself that no matter how good it might taste, that taste is short-lived. The damage that the sugar will do to my body will linger. I am beginning to show and have discipline. I am gaining momentum and I do not want to lose it.
"Discipline is the foundation upon which all success is built. Lack of discipline inevitably leads to failure." ---Lessons of Life by Jim Rohn
"We all suffer from one of two pains: the pain of discipline or the pain of regret. The difference is discipline weighs ounces while regret weighs tons." ---Lessons of Life by Jim Rohn
Right on - send some of that MY way, please!
ReplyDeleteTodd, I think that you should post the newest photo of you on the blog as well. What a great source of encouragement it is - To see the difference that your DISCIPLINE and HARDWORK has made in you physically. More importantly is the changes that you have said that have occured in your mind and spirit, but those of us who don't know you, can't see that. Make sense?
ReplyDeleteI have just started my journey - I saw your blog on livestrong.com while I was contemplating on lap-band surgery. I keep trying to lose weight but it seems to require constant effort and I was looking for an easy way out but your journey looks like lap-band is not the way. I had lost 20lbs - from 350 to 330 - but I stopped counting calories and I think I have gained some back. I guess discipline is the only way and I have little of that.
ReplyDeleteHelen,
ReplyDeleteYou know even now I look in the mirror or at a picture of myself and all I see is FAT! It is odd, two years ago I would have done anything just to be at this weight. Now that I am here, I am not satisfied or happy with myself. My memory card reader is broken on my computer, I posted the photo on FB with my daughter's laptop. I will try to find a 400-pound plus photo and a current photo to post on here. I still hate photos of myself. :-)
Anonymous,
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by. Before you try the Lap Band, I would recommend giving these two programs a try. I honestly believe that if I had known about these two programs and tried them before I got a lap band, I would not have had to get one. Then, when I had to have my band permanently opened up, I gained weight back really quickly.
If you desire to lose weight quickly and can deal without carbohydrates, I recommend the following book/site. I have lost an average of nearly six pounds per week on this program for the past seven weeks.

If you would rather lose weight steady, but slower without as much sacrifice or discipline needed, I recommend the following. The Carbohydrate Addict Diet, allows you to have a "reward" meal each day and people swear it helps them stay on the program as they look forward to their reward meal. It is also a wonderful program that makes sense.
